Php is very powerful language but sometimes you may need to include certain extensions to achieve your programming goals. PHP extensions are compiled libraries which enable specific functions to be used in your PHP code.
In cPanel PEAR, which stands for PHP Extensions and Applications repository, interface can be used to add extra extensions. To know how to add these extensions into PHP via cpanel, follow these steps.
Login to your cPanel account.
Once you logged in , Go to Software section and click PHP PEAR packages.
Install/Uninstall php extensions.
Next page is PEAR installer page. Here you will see lots of things like Module include path, Fields to search and install php packages.
At the bottom part of page you will see list of installed module names and options to update, reinstall or uninstall them.
Now let’s say you want to install XML_Parser extension ( outdated extension, just for sake of example ) , then you can either use the search button or use Show Available Modules .
We will use search option to find XML_Parser , you should enter the package name you want to install.
click Go you will see something like this. Click Install to install the package.
It will start installing the PHP Extension.
Installation of PHP extension is complete.
The installed Module will be shown in the PEAR Installer front page. Now if you want to uninstall any package, let’s say we want to uninstall XML_Parser, just click Uninstall.
Un-Installation process begins.
